Meet the Speaker
Elise O’Brien is a director in Fennemore’s Irvine, California office and is licensed to practice in California and Washington. Elise has extensive experience representing employers in federal and state court litigation involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour claims. She has successfully represented management in various administrative forums, including the Division of Labor Standards and Enforcement, the California Civil Rights Department, the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the National Labor Relations Board. Elise also litigates to enforce produce suppliers’ statutory rights under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA).
Stephen has defended public entities against claims involving premises liability and personal injury, including a wrongful death action against a major school district in which he obtained a nonsuit. Stephen has represented general contractors, subcontractors and property owners in construction litigation, including issues involving subrogation and indemnification. Stephen also has defended individual and class actions brought under various consumer protection statutes, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA). He has also prepared numerous articles and delivered many presentations for trade associations on successfully defending consumer protection litigation.
