This webinar series is designed to equip ag professionals with the knowledge and skills to effectively navigate a host of pressing legal issues from employment and labor law, food safety liability, import/export regulatory issues, PACA, protecting trade secrets and IP, and more.
The series provides Western Growers members with the exclusive opportunity to learn from legal experts who serve the ag industry. Participants will gain insights into many of the practical legal issues that confront our industry.

Meet the Speakers

Alden Parker is the managing partner of the firm's Sacramento office and the co-chair of the Hospitality Industry Group. Alden represents employers in all facets of employment law matters. His clients are involved in a variety of food chain related industries. From growers, packers, and shippers to grocers, restaurants and hotels, Alden works tirelessly on behalf of employers from the farm to the fork. Alden has considerable experience defending employers in single plaintiff and Class/PAGA litigation. Those claims have involved the claims of discrimination, harassment, and wage & hour violations pursuant to State and Federal Law. Alden has also defended employers against whistleblower and retaliation claims, including claims under the California Whistleblower Act and various provisions of the California Labor Code.

Stephen has defended public entities against claims involving premises liability and personal injury, including a wrongful death action against a major school district in which he obtained a nonsuit. Stephen has represented general contractors, subcontractors and property owners in construction litigation, including issues involving subrogation and indemnification. Stephen also has defended individual and class actions brought under various consumer protection statutes, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA). He has also prepared numerous articles and delivered many presentations for trade associations on successfully defending consumer protection litigation.

Rebecca Hause-Schultz is a partner in Fisher Phillips’ Sacramento office, a native Calaveras County and Future Farmers of America alumna, Rebecca draws on her deep roots in agriculture to defend farmers, food processors, manufacturers, and ag-tech businesses in employment litigation lawsuits and provide on the ground solutions. Rebecca litigates cases in federal and state courts, as well as state administrative agencies including the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), Civil Rights Department (CRD), Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB), and Department of Labor (DOL). Rebecca assists employers navigating the complex H-2A temporary foreign agricultural worker program and has significant experiencing in defending H-2A employers in all venues. Rebecca’s practice includes defending employers in Class/PAGA and single plaintiff litigation.

Jason Resnick has been with Western Growers for over 20 years. He serves as its Senior Vice President and General Counsel, with responsibility for overseeing the organization’s legal affairs and he serves as Western Growers’ corporate secretary. As a member of the Western Growers’ senior leadership team, Jason provides advice and counsel on various legal, business and policy matters. Jason also oversees Western Growers H-2A Services, which serves as a full-service H-2A agent exclusively for Western Growers members.
